Qingdao Sailing Bulletin - September 2009

Sailing News in Brief

Free admittance to the Olympic Sailing Center.  The somewhat unusual practice of selling tickets to enter a marina area was eventually abolished by the Olympic Sailing Center on August 10.  Anyone can now enter the marina area for free.  Restrictions on vehicle entry remain in place.  Whether entrance remains free of charge during the 2009/2010 Clipper stop-over in early March, and during other bigger events, remains to be seen.

WETA sailing is gaining popularity.  The number of WETA trimarans, and people involved in sailing them, is growing steadily.  10 WETAs are now sailing in Qingdao - eight of these from the Olympic Sailing Center.  The WETA sailing community includes approximately 30 regular WETA sailors coming from all around the world - including China, Denmark, England, Germany, Holland, Japan, Sweden, and the U.S.  .. more info and news on ..  www.sailweta.com

redSAIL.  The summer issue of redSAIL was published in the second half of August.  No specific distribution locations have been announced by the publisher, but copies should be available in various bars and cafes around town.  A new redSAIL website is being worked on, and the new site address is announced in the printed summer issue.
